NWSC

Statutory Instrument 2002 No. 23, stipulates that NWSC Water and Sewerage rates shall be subject to annual indexation against the domestic Price Index, exchange rate, foreign price Index and electricity tariff so as to maintain real value of the tariff

The indexation for the FY 2008/2009 which takes effect from 1st July 2008 entails a 9.7% nominal increase in the existing average tariff. The large INDUSTRIAL users consuming above 1500 cubic meters per month, will this time be adjusted by 6%. However all other rates remain the same.

Deposits
The Corporation is empowered to take deposits for water and sewerage services calculated at six months’ estimated charges.

Bulk Water Rates
The Bulk Water Supply tariff shall be levied on authorized operators who will re-sell the water to consumers through a piped water distribution network. It shall be determined by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation depending on the area of supply, but shall not exceed 848 shilling per cubic meter.
